The Rollercoaster Ride of Rory McIlroy's Round at Pebble Beach
In a thrilling start to the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Rory McIlroy experienced a day of contrasting fortunes. While he managed to card an impressive 68, his journey was far from smooth, with a couple of double-bogeys adding a touch of drama to his round.
But here's where it gets interesting... Shane Lowry, playing on the Spyglass Hill course, had a remarkable day. Starting at the tenth, he birdied two holes in a row, and the real highlight came on the 14th, where he pulled off an incredible 46-foot bunker shot for eagle! However, the course wasn't without its challenges, as he also had to contend with some par-three holes that resulted in 5s on his scorecard.

Moving to the Pebble Beach Links, Lowry's performance was equally captivating. He started strongly with three birdies, but then dropped consecutive shots on the ninth and tenth holes. But he finished with a flourish, picking up four shots to end the day at five-under.
And this is the part most people miss... Leading the pack is Japanese player Ryo Hisatsune, who had an extraordinary round, shooting a stunning 62 to put him at 10 under. Close behind are the American duo Keegan Bradley and Sam Burns, just a shot further back.
